Národní divadlo marionet pečuje o tradici a dobré jméno českého loutkářství

Napadlo by Vás, že v Praze bylo založeno centrum světového loutkářství? Je tomu opravdu tak! UNIMA (Union internationale de la Marionette), největší světová nevládní divadelní organizace, spadající pod UNESCO, byla roku 1929 založena v budově Městské knihovny, v Žatecké ulici 1.

O tradici a dobré jméno českého loutkářství zde také dodnes pečuje Národní divadlo marionet. S ručně vyráběnými marionetami mistrů loutkářů hrají v památkově chráněném art-decovém divadélku Říše loutek, a na repertoáru jsou hry pro všechny věkové kategorie. Od těch pro nejmenší dětské diváky až po adaptaci Mozartovy opery Don Giovanni, hranou s velkými loutkami v dobových kostýmech. Velmi oblíbená je také Mozartova Kouzelna flétna.

Národní divadlo marionet uvedlo od roku 1991 více než 20 premiér klasických loutkových představení pro dospělé i děti s celkovým počet repríz více než 6.000. Nejčastěji hraným kusem je Don Giovanni.

Na pamětní desku UNIMA vedle sebe usedlo sedm tradičních loutek evropských národů: český Kašpárek, německý Kasperl, Guignol (Francie), Pulcinella (Itálie), Punch (Anglie), Tchantches (Belgie), Petruška (Rusko).

It was a nice theatre. Excellent atmosphere. When you have long legs, it's best to sit in the front lane.

It takes just 5 min walk to the theatre from tram station and metro station. Very nice location. The theatre was middle size and people can enjoy the show at short distance.

The venue is close to the old town which is quite easy to reach via tram. I didnt have any trouble reaching.

I expected that the theater where the puppet show took place would be bigger and more ostentatious, more like a classical theater.

Yes it is a small and rustic theatre, yes the seats are in wood but it is all authentic!

Easy to find in the centre of the city, but in a quiet area away from crowds. Comfortable casual atmosphere.

The seats are not very comfortable, but the auditorium is certainly spacious enough. Perhaps having an area closer to the stage where children could sit and somehow making the play more interactive would be a good idea to increase the appeal to children. Overall, we enjoyed the show and tour, but there were a few things that could make it better.

Pro: easy to imagine another time when marionettes and storytelling were wildly popular. Con: upright seating might create discomfort issues for those with back issues.

Theater is not impressive, but you are not going for that. The seats are wood and not too comfortable, but go for the puppetry.

For both the players and audience, the venue seemed cramped. However, I especially have a broad carriage and seats were uncomfortable for me and rows narrow. Still, i will go back if i am in Prague again. Still, it is a well functioning and obviously busy theater. I will come each time i come to Prague.
